“TODAY I AM A MUSLIM, TOO”

“TODAY I AM A MUSLIM, TOO”

Dear Friends,

On behalf of a broad coalition of interfaith, nonprofit, governmental, and nongovernmental groups, we are writing to request your presence at a rally to be held Sunday, March 6th from 2PM, at 42nd Street and 7th Avenue, Times Square, New York City.

The March 6 rally is centered around the slogan “Today, I Am A Muslim Too”. Muslim and non-Muslim alike will stand together in solidarity, speaking out as a collective American voice. Concerned Americans will take a unified stance against a rising Islamophobia caused by anxiety, misinformation, and ignorance. Despite best efforts to engage and integrate into American society, certain leaders nonetheless, continue to see Muslims outside of the American family portrait. Rep. Peter King (R-L.I.) for example, will hold congressional hearings addressing “The Radicalization of Muslim communities in America”, with testimony solely focusing on the communities of Muslim community. Though the United States Constitution declares that all Americans should be treated equally and granted the freedom to practice their religion without prejudice, Congressman King’s forthcoming hearings challenge this notion by pronouncing that Muslims are not currently, nor are they capable of, being as equally American as members of other faiths or cultures. To date, hundreds of civil liberties groups and public figures have signed letters and spoken out opposing the hearings, including Faith in Public Life, the Jewish Theological Seminary, The Open Society, the Baptist Joint Committee for Religious Liberty, and the Center for Constitutional Rights. We uniformly declare an alternate position to this rhetoric, one that reaches across religious lines for all who seek to live in peace and brotherhood.

Russell Simmons, Rabbi Marc Schneier, Imam Shamsi Ali, Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf, Rev. Bob Chase, Rev. Chloe Bryer, Rev. Katherine Henderson, Rabbi Burt Vitzosky, and UN Goodwill Ambassador Salman Ahmed of Junoon Music Band and other religious and community leaders are scheduled to speak. We hope to welcome you in joining us and making your voice heard, towards the increased harmony of our nation, and the embracing of our common humanity.

Thank you for your time and consideration. Please let us know if you able to join us and if we can use your organization’s name as supporters. We are glad to have relied upon your support and open minds in the past, and look forward to continuing our partnership in this upcoming show of support. Kindly reach out to your own network of organizations in support of this cause.

Sincerely,
Daisy Khan

Readers, I encourage you to go out and show your support. The current political climate becomes uglier day by day. This is nothing more than a modern-day witch hunt or a resurgence of McCarthy era Gestapo BS. The fact of the matter is that politicians stand to gain a lot (power, money) by pushing this toxic agenda. But it only chips away at the fabric of America. They can find fault with any group of people and soon we will find ourselves living in a police state. God knows if we have already reached that point.

Folks, they have lined up an all-star cast. Imam Rauf needs no introduction (by the way his wife wrote the above letter). Salman Ahmad was featured on this blog in a previous post. Plus all other fine clergies who are rallying for the cause of equality and tolerance. Much love and peace to all!

UPDATE: This is the reason why we have to parade ourselves on the streets to prove that we are decent human beings who just what to get through our day just like anyone else. It certainly isn't fair and we shouldn't have to do this, but in the face of such bigotry how else can we get through to them?

A Look Behind the Scenes

It's not easy maintaining a media empire, especially since you only get the weekends to do so. But on occasion you hit pay dirt. Like I did this past week. Check out the stats from my smashwords account:

How cool is that? I just wish they gave more info. Like who actually bought my book. I guess they can always contact me via email if they want to. Again thanks for the support! Also see what people are searching for, here's the latest from google analytics:

First of all I am not running a cooking school folks. This must have to do with some of my posts that detailed my cooking adventures. I only do that out of necessity because no one is here to cook for me, mainly MW. My other option is starvation. I did feature some paintings but they're not by world renowned artist Sadequain. And with the recent hooplah over IBM's new super computer, Watson, which was featured on the game show, Jeopardy as contestant I've been getting hits because of that. Although I am sure this post is setting off the web crawlers.

So that's the look from behind the scenes, until next time.

UPDATE: Hey! Hey! Hey! Look whose looking!

Nice to see I am being read outside of the US. Brazil has held the mantle of second place for the longest time but now Malaysia is narrowing the gap, Indonesia being the next ranking Muslim country. Which is pretty kewl. Of course maybe 2/3rds of the US hits is just me updated the site but hey whose counting. So keep it up you guys! France needs a leg up!

Must Watch!

A friend sent me a link to the following documentary. It's a must watch video that explores the dangers of American Imperialism. Opponents will vehemently deny that there is such a thing even exists. But the truth of the matter is that ever since the conclusion of the second world war. The American Empire emerged and took center stage. Its first mission was to take care of its own "backyard" otherwise known as Latin America. You will learn just how they perfected their blueprint of overthrowing governments that served their people's interest to be replaced by stooges who would serve the national interest of the empire.

The commentator goes on to draw parallels between what happened back then to what is happening today. The so called war on terror is really a war on democracy. The mass media does a good job of keeping people insulated. Emphasizing the evil deeds of others while hiding or even denying atrocities committed by the super powerful. Has anyone even heard of Raymond Allen Davis?

Anyone who watches this should come away with a feeling of profound awareness. After this no one can believe that the US government wants true democracy for its people let alone for the people of other nations. If they do believe this they either stand to make a profit off of others misery or they are incredibly naive and actively refuse to learn the truth.

My only concern is why is the mass media getting cosy with the protesters in Cairo? I thought any time a Muslim fought for his freedom he was branded a terrorist? And why are they vilifying their main man Hosni Mubarak? Maybe he outlived his usefulness and another puppet is waiting in the shadows. Let's wait and see.

What's going on?

Well for starters we have passed the 10,000 hit mark. Thanks you guys, for making it possible! So the corresponding net worth of the blog is now 100 pakistani rupees as indicated by the updated rupee/hit counter. How do you arrive to that conclusion? Well I read somewhere that every 100 hits that you get is like getting a penny. Using the current exchange rate that's like getting one ruppee. Ergo you have your answer.

People really liked the java applet that I put up. According to google analytics it was the most viewed page this past week! Which is awesome. It even garnered a new follower. From the looks of it she's a hardcore WoW player. Which is great since I want to attract as many gamers as I can. Expect more functionality in the applets in the coming months.

The blog now also ties into my linkedin profile. So every time I write a new post it will show up as new entry on my profile. Great way to generate traffic around these here parts, planning to do the same for my facebook profile. A lot going on guys. Lot's more responsibility at work, which is great, free high endurance mental workouts. Plus moving MW's immigration case along is a full time job. So yeah lot's of stuff to juggle. But no worries it build character. Besides I am going to blow off some steam by watching the superbowl, you should to, Go Packers!
