======================================================4. Improvements in Version 1.7======================================================
The following improvements/enhancements have beenincorporated into version 1.7:
* Printing and previewing now works more reliably.
* AOL Internet connections are now recognized by the application so AOL users can receive software updates. However, AOL currently does not support Win NT and Win 2000, so Win NT and Win 2000 users may not be able to receive automatic updates via AOL. AOL will soon release an upgrade to AOL 5.0 that will be compatible with Win NT and Win 2000, and which will be tested by Kinko's when it becomes available.
* The default path for saving KDF files is no longer the installation folder. The default path on Windows 9x machines is the "My Documents" folder. The default path on Windows NT or 2000 machines is the user-specific "Personal" folder. Note that the name may differ depending on how the system is configured.
bonus points if you can guess where i got this from.

Students Hold Pakistan's Biggest IEEE Event
BY NANCY SALIM

The first-ever IEEE TechFair had a little bit of everything: senior engineering projects, competitions for engineering students and young people—some of them in kindergarten—and a student congress. More than 350 people from across Pakistan attended IEEE TechFair 2008, held for two days last August at Government College University, in Faisalabad. Organized by the IEEE Lahore Section, TechFair was held in conjunction with the IEEE Pakistan Student Congress. REALLY BIG “This was the largest technological event for students ever organized in Faisalabad and the biggest IEEE event in Pakistan in 2008,” says IEEE student member Saad Zafar Khan and secretary of TechFair 2008. It took 18 months to organize.Khan says the event’s main goal was to develop a closer relationship between industry and academia. It did this by giving students a chance to show off their engineering talent in displays of their senior projects and by competing in contests that tested their software, circuit design, dynamic programming, and engineering skills. The engineering exhibition included a software-defined radio relying on the Python programming language, an industrial data-acquisition process-control system monitored via a Global System for Mobile communications (GSM) station, and a number of microcontroller-based automation projects. CONTESTS King Codra, a programming competition, involved teams of three students from the same university who were given three hours to solve five real-world problems. One problem was “Sheeda in Trouble,” which involved the owner of a village store who constantly ran out of change for his customers. Contestants had to write a computer program that would tell Sheeda how much change to have on hand by determining the average amount of daily cash transactions and the price of the store’s merchandise. A multimedia competition evaluated students on the production quality of a video clip they had to create using three-dimensional computer simulation. In the 2Xtreme Contest, preuniversity students grouped in categories of kindergarten to 4th grade, 5th to 8th grade, and 9th to 12th grade were asked to come up with innovative uses for today’s technologies. Ideas included a wireless charger attached to a cellphone that converts signals from the cellphone base station to charge the battery, and a machine for travel directions in which the user enters a destination city and the machine displays directions for how to get there. A CONGRESS, TOO The student congress, an annual gathering of representatives from the country’s student branches, explained the benefits of joining IEEE to students and how it can benefit their careers. Four Pakistani universities found enough value in the sessions to establish IEEE student branches at their schools, following the fair.

mmm

I always liked this lawyer

Doomed I tell yeah!

So doc whacha got for us now?

I dunno wanna learn how to make a video game that beats anything macromedia flash could dish out. Then buy this book:

Perez, Sergio. “Elementary Game Programming & Simulators using Jamagic”. Charles River Media. Hingham, MA. Copyright 2003 by Charles River Media, Inc.
I used the knowledge (and the CD) in this book to work on my undergrad final year project. It’s a flight simulator mostly just fun to look at. Which reminds me of something:

A canner exceeding canny
One day remarked to his granny
A canner can’t can a can now can he?

Victory!

u go dawg!!! (slang from the hood remember i b east coast 'aight?)

My first console…that I really gave a shit about

And I watched it liquidate…paid $400 for it in the eighth grade was considered a hero by all. Was smoking my own fumes when I found a CD now costs $2 a pop. Cool let’s load up. Been looking for a worthy emulator ever since. Oh well as long as you can use it as a conventional CD it’s all good. Although I am sticking with super NES no matter what.

Watcha do with the hardware…not funcoland nononononono. Dude it’s a shrine in my closet.

Black Box playback.

I hate to be pessimistic but I think we missed the privacy boat. An individual's web use can be easily tracked. A simple search engine query pulls up loads of information about where you’ve been what you’ve said on forums etc. A more determined investigator can pull up even more information. The point being there is no privacy on the World Wide Web.

I am not too worried about the tracking service you mention. It doesn't seem to be pervasive enough to become a problem. That's because the ISP has to step in to make it work and as we have seen they are apprehensive to do that. Which is something that I applaud, only because I found those ads to be a nuisance and I never click on them anyway!

This is a freebie, not your Russ.

I wise man once said.

15. The Prophet's Last Sermon In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful This sermon was delivered on the ninth day of Dhul Hijah, 10 A.H. (632 A.D.) in the valley of Mount Arafat . The contents of the message were collected from different narrations, and there are other parts to it that are not mentioned here. This sermon still needs the authenticity of all of its parts to be checked.
"O People, lend me an attentive ear, for I know not whether, after this year, I shall ever be amongst you again. Therefore, listen to what I am saying to you very carefully and take these words to those who could not be present today.
O People, just as you regard this month, this day, this city as sacred, so regard the life and property of every Muslim as a sacred trust. Return the goods entrusted to you to their rightful owners. Hurt no one so that no one may hurt you. Remember that you will indeed meet your Lord, and that He will indeed reckon your deeds. Allah has forbidden you to take interest, therefore, all interest obligations shall henceforth be waived. Your capital, however, is yours to keep. You will neither inflict nor suffer inequity. Allah has judged that there shall be no interest and that all interest due to Abbas bin Abdul-Muttalib (the prophet's uncle) shall henceforth be waived.
Every right arising out of homicide in pre-Islamic days is henceforth waived and the first such right I waive is that arising from the murder of Rabiyah bin Al-Harith (relative of the prophet). O Men, the unbelievers indulge in tampering with the calendar in order to make permissible that which Allah forbade, and to forbid that which Allah had made permissible. With Allah the months are twelve; four of them are holy; three of these are successive and one occurs singly between the months of Jumadah and Shaaban. Beware of Satan, for the safety of your religion. He has lost all hope that he will ever be able to lead you astray in big things, so beware of following him in small things. O People, it is true that you have certain right with regard to your women, but they also have rights over you. If they abide by your right then to them belongs the right to be fed and clothed in kindness. Do treat your women well and be kind to them for they are your partners and committed helpers. And it is your right that they do not make friends with any one of whom you do not approve, as well as never commit adultery.
O People, listen to me in earnest, worship Allah, say your five daily prayers, fast during the month of Ramadhan, and give your wealth in zakat. Perform Hajj if you can afford to. All mankind is from Adam and Eve, an Arab has no superiority over a non-Arab, nor a non-Arab has any superiority over an Arab; also a white has no superiority over a black, nor a black has any superiority over white except by piety and good action. Learn that every Muslim is the brother of another Muslim, and that Muslims constitute one brotherhood. Nothing shall be legitimate to a Muslim which belongs to a fellow Muslim unless it was given freely and willingly. Do not, therefore, do injustice to your selves.
Remember, one day you will appear before Allah and answer for your deeds. So beware, do not stray from the path of righteousness after I am gone. O People, no prophet or apostle will come after me and no new faith will be born. Reason well, therefore, O People, and understand my words which I convey to you. I leave behind me two things, the Quran and my example, the Sunnah, and if you follow these you will never go astray. All those who listen to me shall pass on my words to others, and those to others again; and may the last ones understand my words better that those who listen to me directly. Be my witness O Allah, that I have conveyed Your message to Your people."

Criminal Law & Disorder

Haven’t done an AVP for a while. Feeling a bit under the weather and feeling totally stoked, new life and all. Back in the day I was doing some research in mi’ High School Library when Mrs. Nelson an esteemed librarian took interest in what I was doing. I went on and told her that I was taking Advance Placement courses one of which was in computer science. She immediately made a vital connection. Her son was doing litigation work with regards to computer law and encouraged me to do the same. At the time mi familia and I were planning our move to the motherland and were gearing up for departure so I made a mental note and moved forward.

Eight years later I realize the wisdom of her words lil’ old Pakiland must now contend with cyber crime. Citizens must carry a CNIC (Computerized National [Shanakti] Identification Card) I have one so does GF. All of which are issued by NADRA. On September 29th 2008 (which also happens to be lil’ sis birthday) the Pakistani government (under the auspices of Zardari) decided to pass a cyber crime bill. The gist of which is that if you manage to hack into a computer system and are caught you will be executed in the most horrible and gruesome way imaginable.

Me being a Computer Scientist in my dreams and when I am taking a dump find this to be ridiculous. I being a maverick computer lawyer dude bringing law to Dodge City for the very first time don’t have a clue as to the equivalent legislation. Naturally being a holder and all I can gain access to US legislation. But I am wondering what would ISO do? And how far has the world progressed, in this regard?

Rogue thee not, however as an ex quality assurance engineer I was required to do white hacks into sensitive computer software to identify weak points. So according to paki law I should be tarred and feathered right about know. Thank god KFC is halal up and over here I am feeling mighty hungry.

Deep from within the Motherland…

It’s Josh!

This is why I stick around.

Tears of Pharaoh

It seems no matter how many time you oust unjust leaders their autocratic policies never seem to come to an end. I am ashamed of the recent death of a Polish engineer in the Northern Areas of Pakistan. Militants set a “Friday” deadline, for authorities to meet their demands. I interpret this as a deliberate attempt at perpetuating more mischief.

The current hotspot within Pakistani borders is the area of Swat. The domestic policy of the previous regime is still in effect and in short the boys need to fiddle with their tools. How does such naked violence affect the adolescent mind? Well for one thing there is a mutual lack of respect between genders. Each is expected to perform their biological roles flawlessly or else. Due to a lack of education or fierce resistance to change such hard line thinking tends to transcend class lines. And now I take you there:

Welcome Taikonauts!

As the third human race to punch through earth’s orbit I welcome you with open arms. Allow me to be your Liaison officer. First order of business is to arrange some kind of a meal to smooth things over. I am thinking along the lines of vegetarian dishes. How does Thai or Malaysian sound?

A bit weak you say? Hmmm well protein based sustenance will be harder to wrangle. What kind of meat did you have in mind? We cater mostly to red meats. Of course anything that has to go that high will have to be vacuum sealed for quality purposes. By the way how are the milk trials going?
