Listen to what your heart tells you

Often times when making a decision, no matter how small, we don't listen to our feelings and go with what is perceived as the "logical" course of action. At times that is the right thing to do however if its constantly done you unintentionally erode your happiness. This leads to frustration because you are not able to do what you want to do. (Oh I can't watch that movie I have to get up early in the morning).

I say to go with your emotions. If you really want to do something go for it. Forget the voice that tells you about dire consequences. If it makes you happy you will have the motivation to overcame all obstacles.

I guess that's why people find travelling to be so enjoyable. It's the one time you are able to break out of your routine and do what you want to do. The feeling of freedom is liberating. Which does you good, by making you a more positive and balanced individual.

My new toy

I love my new laptop, it's a huge improvement from my last one. Now I can blog with impunity! I installed a nifty game controller. It lets me deftly maneuver my virtual BMW (sigh) while playing need for speed.

Of course that's not to say I don't keep my old laptop around...

It sits besides the new one vying for my attention. I took all my old data from the toshiba and copied it to the dell. Yes its feeling kinda glum not being the new kid on the block is no fun. Especially when you outfitted with a p3 (shhh...it doesn't want to talk about it)

Let's get all professional and stuff

You may notice a shiny new button in the sidebar. That's a link to my LinkedIn profile. I signed up a while back but didn't do much over there, so my account was fairly dormant. I guess I was spending most of my internet time blogging and reading other people's blogs. Recently I started gearing up and becoming more active.

Anyways if any of you want to know me professionally and not as a sci-fi writing, irregulary posting, dweeb you can head on over there. If you already on linked in I'll be happy to add you as a connection. I know of at least one UCFer that I added.

In case you already don't know, my geeky nature led me to a career in Software Engineering. My primary role on a development team has been as a QA engineer. We have the distinct pleasure of acting as a bulwark between angry clients and nonchalant programmers. It's fun. Plus my thesis ties in with my professional experience.

So if your in the IT industry and want to talk shop with me consider joining my network. I will be pleased as peaches.

Tiny Tunes

My sister and her kids are visiting these days. The youngest one spends his time sucking on his toes and sleeping. The older one likes to tag around with me. At first this was kinda fun but then the little guy started getting in the way, not so fun. So I taught him some things to keep him busy. Like making paper airplanes and coloring within the lines.

However I have learned something from him too. He sings this song that is kinda catchy and got stuck in my head. I don't know where he got it form but it sounds Japanese, here goes:

To kai do!
Sho kai do!

It's a work in progress, I wonder when he'll get to the rest of it.

You know you're blogging too much when...

  • You meet friends in real life and look for the "add comment" link
  • You wonder if you spellchecked your thoughts before speaking
  • You scroll to another friend in search of a new topic
  • During a pause in a conversation you wonder when the next update will be posted

I hate to admit it but I was plagued by some of these symptoms. They weren't serious but troublesome. That's why I decided to cut back on my blogging. I guess they're right about too much of a good thing.

And beside meeting people in real life can be fun. As long as they're friendly and "get" you. Otherwise you run the risk of meeting mean people, which as we know, suck. Another note on mean people, the worst type are the ones who think everyone likes them and go on being a nuisance. Eventually somebody has to sit them down and tell them to knock it off. Which comes as a shock to said mean person who retaliates by being even more mean and an even bigger nuisance. To the point that you wish you could claw their eyes out...

Sorry I can't reveal the real life events that prompted these thoughts.
